What happens if you close your business

Learn the steps Mettle takes when your company closes at Companies House. Find out about the 60-day account window and how to request an early closure.

Updated this week

If you close the business linked to your Mettle account, we will also need to take steps to close your account. This is because your Mettle account is legally tied to your specific business entity.

How the process works

  • Companies House Update: Once your company status is officially updated with Companies House to confirm the closure, our account maintenance team will reach out to you.

  • 60-Day Window: Once the closure process begins, your account can only remain active for a maximum of 60 days. This gives you time to move your remaining balance and download any needed statements.

  • Early Closure: If you want to close your account before Companies House updates your status, you can contact us in the app and we can process it for you.

Important: We are unable to change the business linked to your account. If you start a new business, you will need to open a separate Mettle account for that entity.
