What is Confirmation of Payee?

Confirmation of Payee (CoP) is a security check that makes sure the name on a bank account matches the name you enter when sending money.

Supported banks

We currently use CoP for payments to and from these banks:

  • Bank of Scotland, Halifax, and HSBC

  • Lloyds, NatWest, and Nationwide

  • Santander, Starling, RBS, and Ulster Bank

We are working to add more banks soon.

If a bank is not on this list

If the person sending you money uses a bank that is not on this list, the name check will not happen.

Your clients can still send you money, but their bank may ask them to double-check your account details. This often happens the first time they pay you.

Note: Make sure you give your clients your correct business account name so their bank can verify the payment.
