A soft credit search is when lenders look at your credit report when you request a quote for credit or use an eligibility checker tool.

Soft searches don't have an impact on your credit score and only you'll be able to see if any lenders have performed a soft search on your report.

A hard credit search is made on your report when you make a full application for credit and these are saved on your report and may affect your credit score.

Hard searches are also visible to other lenders on your credit report. Mettle doesn't complete a hard credit search.
