Cancel a Direct Debit
You can stop a Direct Debit in your Mettle app. Make sure you do this at least one working day before your payment is due. This does not include weekends or bank holidays.
Go to the 'Payments' tab
Tap ‘Direct Debits’
Select the Direct Debit you want to cancel
Tap ‘Cancel Direct Debit’
What you need to know
Tell the merchant you have cancelled the payment so they don't try to take the money again
Check with the merchant if you still owe them money for a service
Contact the merchant if the payment has already left your account
Ask us to help you start an indemnity claim if a payment was taken by mistake
Important: We cannot turn a cancelled Direct Debit back on. You must ask the merchant to set up a new mandate with a different reference number.
